Landing into Yonago in peak winter, the landscape below feels almost distilled—snow-laden fields, quiet settlements, and the brooding presence of Mount Daisen. This short captures that gentle entry into Tottori, where winter is not just scenic, but central to sake brewing.
Tottori Prefecture is served by two airports: Yonago Kitaro Airport in the west and Tottori Airport in the east—both offering efficient access from Tokyo.
Breweries visited while we travelled from west to east- Inata Honten (Yonago), Otani Shuzo (Kotoura), Umetsu Shuzo (Hokuei), Yamane Shuzo and Nakagawa Brewery (Tottori city), Suwa Shuzo (Chizu) and Gensui Shuzo (Kurayoshi).
The return, fittingly, was via Tottori Airport.

In this video, I taste KAZA G-25, a distinctive barley shochu from Sakagura Ohtemon (Miyazaki, Japan) with my Sommelier friend Sagar Nath who is also the Founder of a thriving wellness company called Shunya India that is based in the Himalayas.

The Shochu was received directly by me from Sakagura Ohtemon and I had to taste it with somebody equally passionate as me regarding such niche beverages.
With no technical data available about the Shochu at the time of the tasting, it was more or less a “blind tasting”. Later we learnt hat this particular Shochu uses a whisky yeast and hence is very unique.
