We had the chance to taste three beautiful brews from **Hitachino Nest Beer** 🍺— crafted by the historic Kiuchi Brewery, founded in 1823 in the Ibaraki Prefecture.
🍶
Originally a sake brewery, Kiuchi brought its precision and philosophy into craft beer in the 1990s, creating the now-famous owl-emblem beers that blend tradition with innovation 🇯🇵✨.

We tasted the following from their lineup:

🍊 White Ale
A refreshing wheat ale brewed with coriander, orange peel and orange juice — bright, citrusy, smooth, and incredibly easy to love.

🍊🍺 Dai Dai Ale
A Japanese orange IPA made with *fukura-mikan* from the Yawaki region. Bursting with natural citrus zest balanced by a gentle hop bite. Vibrant and aromatic!

🌾Red Rice Ale
Brewed with traditional red rice, giving it a soft pinkish hue and a delicate fruit-forward aroma. A beautifully unique expression bridging rice-based fermentation with craft-beer character.

The beers are already imported in India by @fidessalespvt and are retailing in Goa, Delhi and elsewhere at an approx Delhi price of ₹ 500+ for a 330 ml pint.

These whiskies are already selling like hot cakes in the state of Haryana and will soon be available in Mumbai.

All roads led to our booth H58 at Prowine Mumbai - quite literally.
Open on three sides and situated along the venue periphery, the booth didn’t just offer sweeping views of the products, but was also adjoining the fair dining area to make for impromptu food and drink pairings.

Grabbing a quick morsel amid hectic booth activity, came with the perk of pairing ideas too.
In the pic: Narutotai Mizu-to-Kome Junmai Sake from Honke Matsuura brewery (65% milling, 14%ABV) paired with a freshly baked pizza with a topping of sun dried tomatoes, olives, arugula and what else but … cheeeese!🍕

In this video, I taste KAZA G-25, a distinctive barley shochu from Sakagura Ohtemon (Miyazaki, Japan) with my Sommelier friend Sagar Nath who is also the Founder of a thriving wellness company called Shunya India that is based in the Himalayas.

The Shochu was received directly by me from Sakagura Ohtemon and I had to taste it with somebody equally passionate as me regarding such niche beverages.
With no technical data available about the Shochu at the time of the tasting, it was more or less a “blind tasting”. Later we learnt hat this particular Shochu uses a whisky yeast and hence is very unique.

Sake Club India collaborated with Japanese company NIHONSHUNISHIYO CO., LTD. to present a curated and diverse portfolio of Japanese Sake, Gin, Whisky, Awamori and Liqueurs. The partnership enabled a well-rounded showcase of producers from different terroirs, styles and regional philosophies across Japan.
